Disconnections

There is a regulated process for disconnecting a water supply. We can help you with this process.

All disconnections are permanent

Disconnections are, in general, only suitable for properties which are expected to be demolished. If a water supply and/or a sewerage connection is required at some date in the future, the property owner will need to meet the costs of connecting to the wholesaler’s water mains and sewers.

For sites in Scotland

Please complete a disconnection application form and send it to our team at CTT@business-stream.co.uk.

It can take up to six weeks for a water disconnection to take place after this is deemed feasible. Remember, you cannot disconnect the water supply yourself, this must be done by Scottish Water as the meter and pipework belong to them.

For sites in England

If you are applying for a temporary or permanent disconnection for a site in England, please complete a disconnection applications form and send a signed copy to our team at CTT@business-stream.co.uk.

Disconnection for non-payment

Your water may be disconnected if you haven’t paid your bills for some time. Don’t worry, we’ll reconnect you as soon as you’ve made payment, although there will be a charge for this. The Water Industry Commission Scotland regulates this process and has useful information on this topic.
