UK water retailer, Business Stream, has picked up a top accolade at the Living Wage Scotland Awards which were held at Tynecastle Stadium on Thursday 8 November, as part of Living Wage Week.
Business Stream won the coveted Employee Choice Award at the event, having been nominated by one of its employees. Callum Adamson, a contact advisor at the company’s Edinburgh headquarters, entered the awards praising the company’s commitment to paying the living wage.
Speaking about the nomination Callum Adamson said: “I feel strongly that working for a company that offers a Living Wage to their staff helps build morale, as it makes employees feel valued. Since starting at Business Stream, my quality of life outside of work has improved as a direct result of receiving a fair wage. I was delighted to put Business Stream forward for the award and I’m extremely proud that they have won.”
Speaking after the awards ceremony, Jo Dow, Chief Executive of Business Stream, said: “We are thrilled to have won the Living Wage Scotland Employee Choice Award and it’s even more special, given that the nomination came from one of our employees. Business Stream has been paying the living wage for years but to recognise this we officially became a Living Wage Employer just under a year ago. As an organisation we are committed to providing our employees with the best possible support and opportunities to ensure they can develop their careers at Business Stream”.
