Due to prolonged dry conditions and recent heatwaves, Thames Water has implemented a Temporary Use Ban (TUB), also known as a hosepipe ban, for all their customers. The ban is in effect as of Tuesday, 21 July 2026.

Monitoring

The ban only applies to customers receiving their water supply from Thames Water, not those only receiving waste water services.

If you are unsure who supplies your water, you can check here.

Thames Water has been working to maintain water supplies but now asks for their customers’ help to reduce non-essential water use. The ban comes after very low rainfall levels, several heatwaves, higher than usual demand, and forecasts for continued hot, dry weather.

These restrictions will help make sure there's enough water for homes, businesses and essential services, while protecting our local rivers and the environment.

While these restrictions mainly apply to household water use, some businesses will be affected.

Business water usage accounts for nearly a third of all water usage in England, and businesses are being asked to reduce consumption wherever possible to help manage the situation and avoid further restrictions.
