Anticipated wholesale price increases in England for 2025/26
This page provides more information on the anticipated wholesale price increases in England and links to wholesalers’ indicative charges.
Important information
In England the anticipated annual wholesale price increases for water and waste water charges, which will come into effect from 1 April 2025, are based on Ofwat’s recently published draft price controls for the next five year period (PR24) and the regional wholesalers’ indicative charges for 2025/26.
Ofwat published their draft determination of charges in July 2024 indicating what the new upcoming charges might be for each wholesaler region in England for the next five-year period. Following this, in mid-October each water wholesaler in England published indicative wholesale charges to provide retailers with an expectation of what the upcoming price increase might look like for the next financial year.
In December, Ofwat published their final determinations which confirm an average price increase of 42% before inflation over the five-year period from 2025-30. The water wholesalers will publish their wholesale charges for 2025/26 early in the new year.
What does this mean for you and your business?
Following Ofwat's publication of their final determinations, the wholesaler's final charges for 2025/26 will be confirmed shortly.
